One of my beliefs like many others, is that what ever you put into your body, comes out. So good food, vitamins, and a peaceful lifestyle will all contribute to your hair and scalp!
My recommendations include (talk to your doctor first) are:
1. Vitamin D-3
2. Vitamin B complex
3. Omega 3,6,9 Oils
4. Lots of water
5. Quiet time + fun hobbies

*Stress is one of the biggest reasons why I see hair loss. It’s important to make time to deal with it and relax and enjoy the present. I also have seen imbalances of vitamins which create hair loss or lack of hair and scalp health.

External
Maintaining the hair itself is what most focus on which is great! Just don’t forget the inside where it begins. To keep hair strong and healthy there are products, tools and techniques to help maintain it.
1. Great shampoo, conditioner and styling products that don’t include sulfates, parabens, alcohols and excess water will help prevent stripping of your hair’s natural oils and maintain your hair’s color life. Even if your hair color is natural, these quality products will prevent bleaching from the sun and external damage from outside factors. PureOlogy is my favorite line for many reasons. I most recommend them for their quality and ability to provide care with natural ingredients and keep color and structure at it’s best!
2. Deep mask treatments + leave-in conditioners give your hair extra protein and moisture that may lack due to environment, over washing, dehydration, excess hair color and many other causes.
3. Before adding your conditioner to the hair, squeeze as much water out of the hair so that the conditioner will absorb completely into the hair. Always start with the ends of the hair and work up. The scalp doesn’t need as much because of the natural oils.
4. Rinse with cold water. This is an old remedy but a great one! Not only does cold water close the pores but it releases blood flow to the area that got the cold shock. This is great for the face and scalp to increase blood flow for new growth.
5. Quality brushes. Having the proper tools make styling your hair easier, faster and look better. I recommend brushes that heat up by having a ceramic or metal base. My favorite brushes are round brushes as they give body and shape. Part your hair in sections, starting from the bottom and working up. Practice makes perfect. Using a few drops of a serum will help prevent ripping and tangles and help smooth the hair so it slide better in the brush. The longer your hair is, the bigger your brush should be. I use 1-2 1/2” brushes most of the time.
6. Powerful blow dryer. When picking a good blow dryer, I look for one with a higher wattage, smaller nozzle opening and one that comes with a vent nozzle to direct air flow. When you begin your blow dry, get your hair almost dry before using a brush to create style and body. This will save time and make it easier. Always blow your hair in a downward direction to increase shine and smooth frizz.
7. Limit your washing is helpful as the hair doesn’t need to be cleaned as much as we think. It saves products, time and water!
